Eric seems [[Uneasy]] and awkward from the start of the play. It becomes clear to the audience (and the [[Inspector]] ) that he is a hardened [[Drinker]] although it takes his [[Family]] longer to realise this. He is not intimidated by the Inspector's questioning and he feels [[Sorry]] and frustrated with himself for his relationship with the gril. Eric is horrified that his thoughtless actions had such terrible [[Consequences]] . He had some [[Morals]] , as although he got her pregnant he was concerned enough to give her money. He was obviously less worried about [[Stealing]] from his farther's office than he was about the girl's future. Eric is appalled by his [[Parents]] inability to admit their responsibility and tells them he is ashamed of them
